How to choose a charger?

Answer a few questions

1. How many parking spaces are available at your location?

2. Is the territory where the charging station is located protected?

3. Which station mounting format is right for you: wall or floor?

4. What is the allocated capacity of your power grid? (kW)

5. How long can your customer spend charging the car?

6. How? (is it possible?) to free up the charging space immediately after charging the car?

CHARGING AT HOME

The home station is the simplest. Its task is to charge your car as cheaply as possible using the night rate – that is, during the night (8-11 hours). During this time, the minimum power station – 3.7 kW will charge almost any car. At night, when the population consumes little energy, the charging station will operate at maximum power at the minimum tariff.

You also need to decide:
Need a wall-mounted or free-standing station (installation and connection location)

How secure is the station from vandals (will the cable be stolen)

AT THE HOTEL

Hotel guests are unlikely to travel very far for sightseeing. The maximum it will be 150-250 km. That is, the charging station should charge the car for 200-300 km per night. A station with a capacity of 3.5 – 7 kW will cope with this task. And even if you install a powerful station of 22 kW, it will charge the car in 1-2 hours and the parking space will continue to be occupied, since it is unlikely that the client will specially come to re-park the car, freeing up the charging space. Therefore, it is better to install several less powerful stations instead of one powerful station.

Your hotel will be marked on the euro maps of charging stations to attract customers.

Booking.com will also mark your hotel as having a charging station

AT THE RESTAURANT

In the restaurant, visitors are from half an hour to an hour and a half. When installing the station in a restaurant, you need to understand that during this time the car should be charged as much as possible. That is, for a restaurant, the station should be the most powerful. The optimal power of the station is 21 kW

Your restaurant will be marked on the euro cards of charging stations to attract customers.

AT THE PARKING

It is important to understand how long the car will spend on charging.

For public parking (near houses), it will be a whole night, and in this case, it is not the capacity of the stations that matters, but their number.
In parking lots near shopping centers, the client will leave the car for a maximum of 1-2 hours and leave immediately after charging. The station for this type of parking should be as powerful as possible.

Anti-vandal protection is important for public parking lots.

COMMERCIAL CHARGING STATION INSTALLATION

Super fast charging stations are an expensive system, and these stations tend to charge higher rates to pay for it. They are needed for car owners who are willing to pay more for speed. These are, for example, charging stations on high-speed roads, places convenient for charging taxis (for which time is money). With the development of electric vehicles, when the battery capacity is growing every year, it is likely that their installation will become more and more profitable.
